Transforming Accounting Practices with Technology: Building Future-Ready Firms
Updated: Sep 14
The accounting profession is changing fast. Traditional models are no longer sustainable for firms that want to grow without burning out. At the 2025 NJCPA Convention, I had the opportunity to present “Transforming Accounting Practices with Technology,” a session designed to help firm owners modernize operations and embrace scalable, balanced growth through intentional systems and tools.
A Story Rooted in Experience

When I joined my family's firm in 2013, we were buried in paper, overwhelmed by deadline-driven chaos, and reactive in every sense. Our systems were inherited—not designed. The firm ran 24/7 because we let it. That model may have worked decades ago, but it wasn't built for sustainability or life balance.
That pain became my fuel. I realized the only way to grow and stay sane was to completely reimagine how our firm operated. I became obsessed with solving inefficiencies through process, automation, and technology.

These tools freed up our team's time, reduced admin tasks, and allowed us to deliver higher value to the right clients.

Onboarding and Scaling with Intention
We didn't just add tech—we reimagined how we interact with clients. Our onboarding process now filters for alignment with our systems and values. We require use of portals, electronic scheduling, and upfront payments.
Why?
Because the right systems only work with the right clients.

Building a Firm That Works for You
Technology is a tool. The real transformation happens when firm owners embrace leadership, set boundaries, and design with intention.
You don't need to change everything overnight. Start small, stay consistent, and build systems that move your firm closer to the business—and life—you actually want.
